Spouse & Family: Husband of 34+ years, Rick a farmer, a son, Levi, 33, married and also a farmer and daughter, Carly, 30 who is married and is a real estate agent.  Four WONDERFUL grandchildren, Pike Burns Thomas (Oct. 2005) and Beau Swayze Burns (July 2006) and Brooklynn Reese Burns (November 2007) and Ty Banks Thomas (July 2009)

Hometown: HARLINGEN!

Reason for becoming a Real Estate Professional: Around 1990 my husband told me he thought I could do well selling real estate. He was probably trying to think of a way to cash in on a wife who was always striking up conversations with total strangers.

Hobbies: GRANDCHILDREN!  Reading, Baking, Stamping and card-making  and piddling around my home and patio.

Civic & Community Involvements: Past President of the Harlingen Board of Realtors, First Baptist Church Finance Committee member, former mentor for the M.O.P.S. (Mother’s of Preschoolers), former Director for the Algodon Club. When my kids were in school I was an active mom and PTA member.
I have been very active with the Harlingen Board of Realtors for several years. In 2002 I served as President and one of my goals was to either remodel or rebuild the office that houses the Board of Realtors. The key to a successful project is to have forward-thinking people on a committee who share the same objective. After well over a year of work, we now have a brand-new 2,000 square foot building which serves the Harlingen area Realtors in a much more efficient fashion than the old, outdated one. Mission accomplished!

Most Interesting Real Estate Experience: One of the most unique experiences I’ve had selling real estate occurred about two years ago when I was showing property to a very youthful 75 year old lady named “Bobbie”. We pulled up at the very first one, started up the sidewalk and neither one of us saw a step because we were so busy looking at the front of the house. Bobbie was just about half a step in front of me and she tripped and fell on the sidewalk, getting a nice gash above one eye which of course started bleeding freely. Thank goodness I always carry a box of wet wipes in my car! I put them to good use that day.

Well, I had to take Bobbie to the doctor and she got stitches above that eye. The doctor said for her to wait at least until after lunch and see how she felt before she went back out house-hunting. I delivered Bobbie to her son’s house so she could eat and lie down. At EXACTLY 1:00 my cell phone rang. It was Bobbie, and she said, “Lolly? You ready!?”

So off we went again and before long Bobbie had found the house she wanted. I have never forgotten her enthusiasm and how excited she was to be looking for a house even after taking a fall and getting stitches. I hope I can be as active at 75 years old!

Family: Married to Steve Thomas, co-owner of Lewis Electric Motors in Harlingen. We had our first child, a boy named Pike Burns Thomas in October of 2005 and in July of 2009, we added another boy, Ty Banks Thomas.  We have a black lab named Cutter.  I love all the men in my life, big, little and four-legged.

Hometown: Harlingen – born and raised as the daughter of a local farmer.

Reason For Becoming A Real Estate Professional:
Real Estate provides me with the flexibility and variety I really wanted in a job. I like the fact that no two days in this business are ever the same.  Having the opportunity to meet people who are moving to my community is really exciting and I hope to help them find a home they are comfortable in.

Hobbies: During the summer I enjoy fishing with my husband, the beach and my backyard swimming pool. In the winter, I enjoy snow skiing and spending time at the family ranch. I also enjoy scrapbooking  or baking when the mood hits me.  I love re-decorating and remodeling my house.  I'm always ready for the next project.

Civic and Community Involvement:  I am active at the First Baptist Church of Harlingen , serving on committees. I am an alumni of the Citizens Police Academy in Harlingen.  I also serve on the steering committee for the FBC Harlingen MOPS group.  School board member at Journey Preschool in Harlingen.

Most Interesting Real Estate Experience:  Putting myself in my seller's shoes by putting my own personal home for sale in Sept. of 2004.  Now I know what it is like to have your house on the market.  I also had the experience of buying another home and the stress that comes along with that.  I have a whole new respect for my buyer's and seller's after that experience

I enjoy meeting people and love to show homes. Part of the fun is working with
people and finding them the perfect home.

Raised as a Navy Brat, I was born in Chincoteague Virginia, then lived in Freeport
Maine and Key West Florida before moving to Texas. This move brought me to
Kingsville at the young age of 7. Corpus Christi came next, where I graduated
from King High School.

While attending Texas State University, I was advised by a counselor to major in
Home Economics. I did the exact apposite and majored in Industrial Arts
with courses in drafting, woodworking, welding, and electronics to name a few.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree which is a good background for
real estate.

After eighteen years of industrial forklift sales in the valley, I was ready for
a change. On weekends I found myself going to open houses and thought instead
of doing this for fun, why not do it for a living. I have now been an agent for over
ten years and am still enjoying it.

Jeb, my deceased husband of many years, and I had one son, Derek who
graduated Harlingen South and then Texas State University with a Bachelor
Of Arts degree in communications. He now resides and works in Houston with
A Christian non-profit organization.

There is something new everyday in real estate which makes it very exciting.
One of my favorite real estate stories is of a young couple who closed on their
First home on a Monday. On Friday I went by to see how they were liking the
new place and they had tiled all the floors and installed central air and heat.
I still am amazed by this!

Being an active participant with Harlingen Board of Realtors and Multiple listing
Service, I am also a member of the Texas Associations of Reators and the
National Association of Realtors.
